Thomas Ma is the Math Department Chair at Admiral Farragut Academy, located in St. Petersburg, Florida. He teaches AP Calculus AB and BC as well as Pre-Calculus Honors and regular math classes. Originally from China, Mr. Ma has earned a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Maryland and a second Master’s degree in Business Administration from Salisbury University. He has a total of twenty-two years in the teaching profession.

Eugene Jalbert holds a B.A. in Math from Boston College as well as a Master of Art degree in Math. His desire to spread the truths of Calculus to prep school minds and see their faces light up with understanding has always been a life’s passion. He has secured numerous grants and written books on AP Calculus.
The award was completely unexpected. Challenging students to think, create, and aspire to excellence is part of Tampa Prep’s mission and my life’s passion. To receive this award makes it all the sweeter!
Leanne Williams worked in the engineering field for more than a decade after earning an Industrial Engineering degree. With a strong desire to educate young minds, she then went on to earn two Masters Degrees – one in in Math and the other in Leadership. She currently teaches AP Calculus AB, Honors Calculus and Honors Pre-Calculus.
The Barrett Family Foundation award is a great honor and a blessing. It means I can attend the next summer AP conference to meet head graders and improve my instruction. I was also able to get some tools for my classroom that will help with technology. Overall I’m just very humbled to be counted among the excellent winners.
